The WTSR Core Training is a SafetyOn accredited industry course delivered by ARCH, in partnership with the Energy Institute. It is designed to ensure the application of a safe system of work when working in a wind turbine. Delivered in classroom or online formats, it provides an understanding of the safe management of hazardous energies and sets out the WTSR Guidance and Support Procedures. Provides practical knowledge of wind turbines maintenance procedures and the implementation and use of the WTSR in achieving a Safe System of Work. The one-day training course covers:


  1. Policy, Philosophy, and Principles underpinning the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR).
  2. Legal Framework: Understanding how WTSR fits within UK and other regulations.
  3. Safety Management System: From risk assessment to safe systems of work.
  4. Behavioural Safety: Risk perception, decision-making, and leadership in safety.
  5. Hazard Identification: Recognising dangers in wind turbines and applying precautions.
  6. Roles & Responsibilities: Formal acceptance of duties within WTSR.
  7. Communication & Control Transfer: Ensuring safe handovers and minimising human error.
  8. General Safety: Maintaining a safe work environment before, during, and after tasks.


The course is aimed at wind technicians, contractors, authorising engineers, operational controllers, and safety managers.
